Polio Death
George Windus aged 27 years was admitted into the local hospital on Saturday last and died early Monday morning from Poliomyelitis.
Windus who was employed as a railway fettler at Malbon became ill on Friday and after a series of vomiting turns and an attack of dysentry, decided to seek medical attention and came in at mid-day to Cloncurry. He was accompanied by his wife and two months old baby.
After his death Mrs. Windus and baby returned to her home at Malbon with Cloncurry Shire Health Officer J. G. Garland where isolation for 11 days is imperative. Malbon station master and police officer and other residents were most helpful, said Mr. Garland in doing what they could for this unfortunate woman and her young family.
